Training Session: 2004

On Saturday, June 12th we met in Collingwood to hold a Division 8 Caucus Meeting and Kiwanis Training session. Members from all but the Orillia, Champlain Golden K were in attendance.

At 9:00 a.m., Lieutenant Governor Gary called the meeting to order. Owen Sound Golden K Director Mel Proud led us through an invocation and Owen Sound President Paul Neville recited the Objects of Kiwanis.

Members were introduced to this web site, a Tobago report (see slide show in the Lieutenant Governor's Report) and a brief discussion on HIV/Aids in the Caribbean.

As well, members were brought up to date on the happenings of the Orillia, Champlain Golden K.

After many words of encouragement, Owen Sound President Paul moved (seconded by Barrie Golden K President-Elect Bruce) that all clubs in Division 8 will contact PLG Bob MacDonald and the Champlain Golden K. They will offer their support and encouragement during this transition time.

This motion was carried unanimously.

DLG Chuck McIlravey conducted an excellent President's Training while Owen Sound Secretary Stew Andrew took the Secretary's aside and went over reporting procedures in detail.

Much information was passed on to members and a good time was had by all.

LG Gary outlined our Provincial governments logo'd license plate program. New plates with a Kiwanis Logo can be had for $52 (instead of the regular price of $32 for non-logo'd plates).

All Kiwanians agreed to canvass their membership asking how many might be interested in obtaining a Kiwanis plate if we enter into this program. The results of this "straw vote" will be sent to the LG.
