The Kiwanis Club of Orillia

Long known as "movers and shakers" of their community, the Kiwanis Club of Orillia has spearheaded many educational and municipal projects:

  • The Kiwanis Children's Health Centre

  • Basketball Nets

  • The Orillia Waterfront Trail

  • Memorial Trees

  • Tag Days

...name but a few.

2004 marks the 80th anniversary of this venerable club.

At a time when service clubs world-wide are struggling to maintain their membership numbers, the Kiwanis Club of Orillia finds itself growing in leaps and bounds.

President John Mayo reports that ten new members have joined in just the past six months.

The Kiwanis Club of Orillia has experienced recent strong net growth and now numbers 49 members. "Even more important than the numbers," states President John Mayo, "is the diversity of the members. It is a pretty even mix of men and women, younger and more mature, and across the whole business spectrum. The current momentum is great, and like attracts like so we are excited about a very healthy future as a club. Last year was our 80th Anniversary and we are confident the next 80 will be just as successful."

Good times were had by all at Orillia's recent 80th anniversary celebration.

President-Elect Doug Downy enjoyed the Key Note Speaker's address at our recent Eastern Canada and the Caribbean annual Convention in Sarnia.
